Australia's best Drift Matsuri events, hosted by Queensland Raceways! 

We run 2 Drift Matsuri's per year, the Autumn Matsuri which is typically in March and the Spring Matsuri in October. 

Keep an eye out for entry opening times, the entries don't last long so be sure to stay on top of it to avoid missing out!



Driver Information

The Queensland Raceway Drift Matsuri's are the biggest drifting events held in Australia, filling two full days with non-stop drifting action. Starting on track from 8am on Saturday morning and running through to 10pm, then back into it from 8am Sunday morning with it all coming to a close at 4pm on Sunday.


With 250 entries and 4 drifting circuits to choose from you can't run out of new things and new people to see.

On the Friday of the event entry is allowed from 4pm for drivers and their pitcrew. There will be the opportunity to sign in on Friday afternoon, attend a driver's briefing & get your car scrutineered.

  • Sign in will begin from 2pm Friday
  • Briefing will commence at 5.30pm-8pm Friday afternoon, and will recommence Saturday 7am.
  • Scrutineering will be available on Friday afternoon so we can get a head start.
  • Shed keys will be available from 4pm. your own padlock will be necessary to secure your garage.
  • Pit bays will not be available till Saturday morning.
  • There will be a security guards on duty the entire event. 
  • Gates will close for entry at 11.00pm on both the Friday and Saturday nights.

Sign on will commence from 7am on Saturday 9th March. Everyone will need to attend a briefing before being allowed on the circuit. You will also be required to go through scrutineering before being allowed on the circuit.

What we will be looking for during scrutineering:

  • Seat belts
  • Seats secure
  • Door cards/panels present
  • Dash of some description present
  • All body panels
  • Working head lights, tail lights and hazards (if no headlights, then no night driving)
  • No major oil leaks
  • No scraping parts
  • No exhausts out through the bonnet
  • Battery attached securely
  • Taped battery terminals

Attire:

  • Helmet
  • Closed in shoes
  • No singlets but t-shirts and shorts will be ok.

We would like to see cars having a fire extinguisher, its not a requirement but it will save your car in a bad situation.

Spectator Information

Spectator Admission - $30per person for the weekend or $50per person if you wish to camp out on Saturday night!


There are no single day tickets.

Gates open 6:30am.

There will be multiple security guards on the gate all night. This is an alcohol free event - your car will be checked upon entry. Any anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in you being removed from our venue.

Passenger bands are available from the control tower after 7.30am Saturday Morning. Passenger Bands cost $5ea.

Passengers must show photo ID. Passengers under 18 will require legal guardian / parental permission i.e Medicare Card and sign the indemnity form. Please call our office for more information. 

Refund & Transfer Policy

Queensland Raceways does not offer refunds on entries purchased. Selling of entries is not permitted if you can not attend the event, unless authorised by QLD Raceways. A wait list is in place if all driver entries sell out. All transfers of entries must be organised through QLD Raceways & purchaser of entry. If you cannot make the event and would like to transfer your entry, please contact QLD Raceways directly for the current wait list. A transfer fee of $50.00 is applicable to all entry transfers and payable to QLD Raceways. No transfers or swaps after 5pm Sunday the weekend before the event.


 

FAQS

Yes, There are noise limits at Lakeside Park!

Lakeside Park and its activities are held to a strict noise limit requirement. These limits are imposed upon Lakeside Park by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

The noise limits for Lakeside Park are tested statically at a distance of 8 metres from the exhaust exit point of the vehicle. All vehicles must be below 95db to proceed onto the race circuit. Whilst on the circuit noise limits are also tested and enforced, 95db at the tracks edge.

If your car is above this level, please address the noise level before entering an event at Lakeside Park.

Should I bring ear protection?

Due to the nature of our venue, visitors can expect to experience a certain level of noise from the vehicles taking part. Reduced noise earbuds are available for all visitors, especially children, to get closer to the action without feeling uncomfortable.

Are pets allowed at the tracks? 

No dogs or pets are permitted, nor should they be left in your car or in the campsite. Only guide dogs and assistance dogs for the disabled are allowed on site. 

Are there any medical facilities? 

We have a dedicated Medical Room at Queensland Raceway and Lakeside Park. Staff are qualified first aiders and we always have qualified doctors and medical staff during events.

Can I bring my own food to Queensland Raceways?

Whilst we do have on site cafes at Lakeside Park and Queensland Raceway, you are welcome to bring food and beverages to either of our venues. Our facilities are perfect for a picnic whilst soaking up the entertainment on track.

What do I need to wear?

Long sleeved shirt, trousers, enclosed shoes and a AS1698 Aust. Standards helmet is the minimum apparel required. There are some exceptions to this mainly for the drift events and cruising where they need only wear t-shirt, shorts, enclosed shoes and a AS1698 Aust. Standard helmet.

For Motorcycle events - 
All riding gear must be in good condition with no obvious faults or structural damage.

FULL LEATHERS ARE REQUIRED – It can be either a one-piece or two-piece that zips up all the way around.
Gloves must be leather motorcycle gloves and cover your wrists.
Footwear must be motorcycle leather boots & cover at least your ankles.
Helmets must be either Australian, Snell or ECE standard and display the relevant standards sticker. Your helmet must be full-faced the with no cracks or damage to the integrity of it.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Cancellations and Refunds

 Cancellation by QR

QR may have to cancel an activity due to events beyond its control, for example adverse weather conditions. This will usually be in the interests of safety. Where an activity is cancelled in its entirety for such reasons, QR will endeavour to notify participants of the cancellation although QR cannot guarantee that participants will be informed of such cancellation before the date of the event. Where a track day is cancelled in its entirety for such reasons, QR willendeavour to offer either (a) a place on an alternative date for the activity (subject to availability) up to the face value of the existing booking or, (b) a full refund.

If QR cancels an activity for reasons other than events beyond its control, a full refund will be offered.

In order to claim any refund, please apply in writing to QR’s address set out below, stating clearly the activity to which the application relates. For accounting purposes any applications for refunds must be received within 28 days from the date of the cancelled track day.

Cancellation by Customer

If you are unable to attend an activity which you have pre-entered, please call our sales team as soon as possible. In these circumstances, then, provided QR are notified no later than 30 days prior to the activity date, QR will endeavour to offer a full refund.

If QR is notified less than 30 days before the activity which you have pre-entered, a credit can be applied for but must be used within three months of initial date credit is applied. You can also reschedule your booking towards a later activity (subject to availability) up to the face value of the existing entry.

No Credit or refund can be given the day of or after the activity, unless extreme circumstance which are authorised by the event manager. No credit or refund will be given if the customer chooses to not participate due to weather conditions, if the event has not been cancelled. 

What licences do I need to participate?

When competing in a Race Event such as a QRDC, 2 Days of Thunder etc you will need a RACERS National licence or a CAMS Clubman, National or International Circuit licence with a RACERS clubman licence. (CAMS Level 2 or Level 2s are not accepted) 

To apply for a National RACERS Licence:-

  • Applicants are required to participate in two events prior to arranging for an Observation and Testing. e.g.: 2 Sprints OR 2 General Practices OR 1 Sprint and 1 General Practice.
  • Once the applicant has completed the two prior events they make arrangements with the Event Manager or their approved delegate to be observed at a General Practice or Sprint meeting and to complete a written TEST.

For Recreational events such as Friday Night Drifts, QR Moto Ride Days, Sprints etc you need a RACERS clubman licence.


What if I am under the age of 18?

All persons under the age of 18 are considered minors, and to participate in an event a minor is required to be signed in by a LEGAL GUARDIAN.

The legal guardian must also provide proof of legal guardianship, with any of the following:

  • Parents Medicare card listing the minor and the legal guardian
  • A court order or letter of guardianship signed by a judge when they were appointed as guardian by a court

If you are an independent minor you will have to provide government documents confirming your independent status.
