Greeks take first blood at Lakeside 300

While the Olympics are underway in Rio, The Greeks have taken first blood at Lakeside Park.  Nick Leontsinis stole the top of the time sheet way fro his competitors today in Qualifying for tomorrow Lakeside 300. 

Leontsinis set the pole for the Lakeside 300


Leontsinis set a 1.03 min lap after starting third last in the shootout.  The fastest drive all day was Canberra duo Nathan Jess and Ryan Reynolds.   Jess took his Futurebusa out last in the shootout bit managed the second fastest time just 0.06 by the Targa racing driver.

Third was Honda brothers Jimmy and Benny Tran a further 0.2 seconds back with Dione Jarvis in a Ford Falcon another 0.1 seconds behind.

With the Top 10 so closely matched the field with take a cautious approach into the 124 lap race.

Brock Giblin in his Excel was fastest in Division three, while Junior Racers Holly Espray in a BMW and Shannon Cane in a Hyundai Excel both impressed the field in their maiden Endurance event.

The Lakeside 300 will kick off at 1:30pm on Sunday and complete 124 laps of the iconic Lakeside Park circuit in the longest Endurance event at the circuit in long established history.

Other categories competing included Trans Ams, The debut of the new TA2’s, Queensland Sports Cars and Queensland Touring Cars.

Admission is $30 and racing starts at 9:00am.
