Following their competitive debut at Lakeside Park, the all-new TA2 Racing Australia Trans-Am Series is set for their first race event at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

The recently launched category designed to be a modern take on the Trans-Am Series of the late 60s and early 70s caters for V8-powered American muscle cars, comprising of a purpose-built racing chassis and a controlled engine package developing 525 horsepower.

Unprecedented global demand for the TA2 chassis has resulted in a delay of the next shipment of eight cars to Australia, which were originally scheduled for arrival in September.

A nine car grid featuring Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro-bodied cars will take to The Paperclip for this weekend’s Ipswich Classic meeting.

“The pace will have certainly picked up since Lakeside now that everyone has had a chance to drive their cars in anger,” said TA2 representative Craig Harris.

“The competition is heating up and the weather looks ideal for a great weekend of racing.”

Canberra racer Chad Cotton secured the inaugural round victory at Lakeside Park in a Ford Mustang after former Supercars privateer Harris claimed pole and the series’ maiden win to seal a Mustang one-two clean sweep of the weekend.

This follows the announcement that TA2 will hold a series of demonstrations at the Australian Muscle Car Masters on October 29-30 for the class’ Sydney debut.

“There has been plenty of interest around TA2 in New South Wales,” explained Harris.

“We’re looking forward to displaying our cars on track in a series of spirited demonstrations. We encourage fans to come and see the cars up close in the pits.”

“We’re grateful for the support from Muscle Car Masters organisers to be able to present our series at a marquee event at Sydney Motorsport Park.

TA2 Racing Australia will commence with practice on Friday, followed by qualifying and four races across the weekend alongside the final round of the Australian Trans-Am Series.
