QR signs with Virgin Australia Supercars until 2020

3 Year Deal SecuredQueensland Raceways Operations takes pleasure in announcing that negotiation between Queensland Raceways and Virgin Australia Supercars have been successfully completed. Satisfactory terms for both parties were reached some weeks ago and the signing of the contract took place in the coffee lounge beside the Virgin Australia Supercars offices in Southport whilst enjoying the early morning sunshine.

“In addition to this contract, an option for a further 3 years has been tabled and discussed.  Whilst we are not looking to finalise that contract just yet, we expect it will be ratified well before the end of the current term. It is obviously in nobody’s interest to keep running from year to year with no guarantee of continuity on either side pushing everyone to stressful last minute discussions.

This will be the twentieth time Roland Dane and Dick Johnson and their teams have sized up at QR. It’s a sure bet that they both are looking forward to consolidating their Townsville successes on the track that has been so good to both of them and their drivers in the past 18 years.

Given those teams are running 1,2,3 & 4 in the championship, QR may well determine who gets the strategic win that sets them up for the big cup at the end of the year, Either way, it will be a major stoush out here!” said John Tetley, CEO of Queensland Raceways.

“This contract puts Virgin Australia Supercars in the position it needs to be to conclude its arrangements with the Queensland Government and the Ipswich City Council for the Willowbank round. Our Queensland teams are looking forward to exploiting their hometown advantage and, being the round to follow Townsville, it means we get to enjoy Queensland’s beautiful winter climate just that much longer”, said James Warburton, CEO of Virgin Australia Supercars.

The Virgin Australia Supercars will light up the Willowbank circuit with the Coates Hire SuperSprint event between July 28th and 30th and tickets are now available via the http://www.supercars.com/ website.
