Classic Sedans and Production Utes Join Forces at Ipswich Festival of Cars

The Queensland Classic Sports Sedan Championship commences this weekend at Queensland Raceway – the same venue where the season will conclude on the opening weekend of November.
The four-round championship will feature on the 2 Days of Thunder program in June, just two weeks after featuring on the Australian Motor Racing Series bill at Morgan Park.
In a category dominated by either MARC cars, or men with the surname Kulig last year, this weekend’s grid has a very different feel to it.
Neither George or Michael Kulig feature in the field, with George instead campaigning a TA2 entry in 2018.
MARC Cars Australia, who had up to five cars on the grid at rounds during the 2017 season, will field two this weekend, with Geoff Taunton (#95) and Lisa Montgomerie (#10) at the helm of the respective entries.
Elsewhere, Grant Spaninks returns, in his Mitsubishi Evo, as does Peter McLean in the Nissan Silvia.
2018 Classic Sports Sedans Series Calendar

1 | Ipswich Festival of Cars | Queensland Raceway | April 20-22 |
2 | Australian Motor Racing Series | Morgan Park | June 8-10 |

This weekend, the Production Ute Racing Queensland fraternity will share the track with the Classic Sports Sedans, as they contest Round 2 of their 2018 series.
John McLaughlin dominated the opening round at Lakeside last month, and he’ll be looking to continue that form at Queensland Raceway.
Leading the fight for the minors will be Harrison Barker and Scott Tamati, who were most impressive in the opening round at Lakeside. They lead the fight, in a growing field, to try and defeat the defending champion, McLaughlin.
Saturday morning’s qualifying session will commence the weekend program, which will feature four races on the 3.12km National Circuit.
